WITH ALL THE BUS ACCIDENTS HAPPENING IN THE ST. LOUIS AREA, THIS BUS SUMS UP MY FEELINGS ABOUT THE CRAZY, SPEED DEMON, UNTRAINED, UNPROFESSIONAL DRIVERS WHO TRANSPORT OUR MOST VALUED TREASURES IN UNSAFE BUSSES BY SPEED OBSESSED KAMAKAZEE DRIVERS.

Things are really hopping at the garden center. Fed Ex brought more annual flowers to be planted in our custom hanging baskets. The 1300 Knockout Roses planted last week are already starting to bud. As soon as the spring weather arrives they'll all go on the drip irrigation system outside, to make way for another crop in hoop house #1. Hoop house #2 is backed with last year's fall nursery stock and 2000 perennials that we overwintered. The planting crew has been turning out perennials and slowly the perennial house is coming alive. Spring is only 5 weeks away, but if you're looking for a spring fix....come to the garden center. Boy, I almost forgot that another shipment of pottery arrived today. Jennifer and Chris have selected some of the best looking pottery available in St. Louis. The one aspect I have found very encouraging is the amount of traffic already SPENDING MONEY at the garden center. A sure sign of spring.

This is one of a series of "Chubby Quotes" which graced the marquee sign at the garden center. What's actually funny is several customers came in the nursery and actually remembered each one of the posted signs.

Quite unique.....It's a drive in church. Daytona Beach actually has a church on the grounds of an old drive in theatre. I'm always on the prowl for the strange and unusual. Email the Old Sign Philosopher at greenscapegardens@yahoo.com and I'll give you credit for your find. Let's share it with America.

Things are really starting to pop at the garden center. Today 1000 customized hanging baskets were planted. Plus the first of the perennials arrived today. We'll start planting the perennials tomorrow in the "Greenscape Grown" customized pots. The weather was simply delightful today, so we were also able to get some outside work completed......warm temperatures and no rain. Tomorrow, we have our second tractor trailer load of trees from Tennessee arriving.....It'll be cold and rainy.

Container gardening with miniature conifers.

There's a whole new world of container gardening with conifers. Check out the Conifer Society website. Container gardening is the latest in gardening and Greenscape Gardens has a great selection of containers and conifers to choose from. This is the perfect opportunity to start your gardening early. We're open Monday - Saturday 8 am to 4 pm. Sorry closed on Sunday till March.
Greenscape Gardens
Received a large shipment of miniature conifers today. Here's an example of three mini's in a container garden. If you're looking for the unusual, these plants are incredible since they can be used both indoor and outdoor. Model railroaders have known about this secret for years. They have been making life-like landscapes with these miniature plants. Now you can have the outdoors, indoors all winter. We have the greatest selections of mini's in St. Louis and we will restock these all year long.

Once again, there are more changes at the garden center. Jennifer is putting the final touches on a new Point of Sale Register system. She has been working diligently on getting the system up to speed for the long anticipated spring season. The new system will have 2 terminals in the main greenhouse and a seasonal terminal in the outside "shade house". All sales will be tracked, so we can determine buying swings and keep a better handle on reordering merchandise.

Jennifer and Chris have been downloading the current inventory into the new system. Michael Pleimann has been the outside computer guru in working out all the bugs. This new system is state of the art......Its a long way from the cigar box from 12 years ago.

We have also made some visual changes in the main greenhouse that the gardening public will appreciate. Also check out the new shade house along Barrett Station. This new shade structure will house many of the outstanding "shade loving" nursery stock which will be arriving from Oregon, Pennsylvania and Tennesse.

This coming week, we will be creating over 1000 customized hanging baskets. Our first load of perennials will also be arriving this week. One or two tractor trailer loads of nursery stock is anticipated for the coming week. Spring is getting closer................
