CUT FLOWER OF THE YEAR

The Association of Speciality Cut Flower Growers has announced it 2005 Cut Flower of the Year. The Fresh Cut Flower of the Year is Ilex verticillata "Winter Red", a brilliant winterpberry coupled with bare branches for dramatic effect. This shrub is readily available at Greenscape Gardens.

INAUGURATION FLOWERS

The Society of american Florists (SAF) generated buzz from the national news agencies during the presidential inauguration ceremonies for its 3,500 floral arrangements created by 200 SAF members.

The arrangements were seen at nine balls, three dinners and several receptions and garnered interest from the likes of CNN, ABC's Nightline, ABC's Good Morning America and NBC's Nightly News.

Leaders of the initiative at SAF say they estimate fielding quesstions from more than 30 reporters curious about the exciting designs. Florists also generated buzz across the country by tgalking with their local news personalities about participating in the inaugural events.
