LEWIS & CLARK EXPEDITION 200 YEARS AGO TODAY 11/27/1804

The daily work on the fort progresses with interior walls on the huts being completed. The Lewis party returns from the Mandan and Hidata villages. Two of the Hidatsa chiefs accompanied the party back to Fort Mandan. Lewis has spent the last two days reassuring the Mandans and the Hidatsa that the Americans are not building the fort and forging an alliance with the Sioux. The men of the corps dance to entertain the Indians.
