LEWIS & CLARK EXPEDITION 200 YEARS AGO TODAY 10/26/1804
At the mouth of Knife River, the Corps reaches Mitutanka, the first of two Mandan villages. After the unpleasantness with the Teton Sioux, the captains have decided one will remain with the boats. They enjoy watching a man grind corn with a steel mill and are perplexed by York.
