LEWIS & CLARK EXPEDITION 200 YEARS AGO TODAY 10/29/1804

Day 168 of the Corps of Discovery. The Corps put up an awning and enclosed the council site with sails to keep out the wind. After the captains' speech, all smoke the sacred pipe including four Mandans, three Hidatsas, and the visiting Arikara. A prarie wildfire passes by so quickly that it kills a Mandan man and woman.
